PI/PO migration: flexible integration into the next generation
The end of maintenance for SAP Process Integration (PI) and Process Orchestration (PO) in 2027 marks a decisive turning point in the integration strategy of many companies.
The SAP Integration Suite is the official successor: technologically modern, cloud-oriented and future-proof. At the same time, migration opens up room for manoeuvre in the operating model, offering the option of transitioning from in-house operation to a fully managed service. This decision significantly impacts the operating costs, flexibility, and strategic controllability of the integration landscape.
A personalised migration check helps you identify the right direction for your company, from a technical, organisational and strategic perspective.
Managing Director

"A successful PI/PO migration is not just an IT project — it's a strategic step towards the future. Those who integrate now will lay the groundwork for efficient processes, rapid innovation, and genuine digital competitiveness."
The CONCETO migration check - your secure path to the SAP Integration Suite
With our migration check, you create the basis for a smooth, efficient and future-proof migration from SAP PI/PO to the SAP Integration Suite - the modern, cloud-based platform for seamless processes, data and API integration in the SAP world.
Our experts have many years of experience in SAP integration projects and know exactly what is important for a successful migration to the SAP Integration Suite.
We will analyse your existing SAP PI/PO landscape in detail and provide clear recommendations to help you simplify, boost the performance of, and modernise your integration architecture.
Rather than a straightforward 1:1 migration, we develop a forward-looking integration strategy that makes full use of the capabilities of SAP Cloud Integration, offering efficiency, cloud compatibility and measurable added value for your company.
On request, we can support you beyond the migration, helping you with the ongoing operation of your integration platform, or providing a full service via our CIS/4-Cloud.
The result is less effort and lower risks, as well as a powerful integration architecture that is optimally prepared for the digital future.

Our migration approach is based on the SAP methodology ISA-M (Integration Solution Advisory Methodology) and combines over 18 years of project experience.
Using our proven five-phase approach, which covers everything from analysis and target image to design, testing, implementation and operation, we minimise risks and ensure an efficient and transparent transition to the Integration Suite.
1. Assess - analysis & migration check
2. Design - target image & architecture roadmap
3. Define best practices - migration implementation
4. Enable - test & quality assurance
5. Operate - Go Live & Operate
Why the SAP Integration Suite is a strategic asset
- Cloud-native, scalable, future-proof: Instead of on-premise limits, you can rely on an elastic cloud-based infrastructure
- Real-time, event-based & API management: For processes that need to function in real time
- Prefabricated integrations: Quick start thanks to SAP and third-party content
- ROI & cost transparency: Reduce integration and operating costs through platform consolidation and reuse
- Gartner award: Rated as an iPaaS Leader every year since 2021, a status confirmed again in 2025

Starting the future with a strong partner
While the change may initially seem like an inconvenient necessity, closer inspection reveals a number of opportunities.
Nevertheless, the changeover from SAP PI/PO also represents a major challenge for many medium-sized companies: for an optimal migration, there is often not only a shortage of personnel and technological resources, but also a lack of the necessary expertise. A migration check and subsequent system support from an external provider can help here.

Frequently asked questions about the SAP PI/PO migration check
Standard support for SAP Process Integration (PI) and Process Orchestration (PO) ends in 2027, but companies have the option of extending support until 2030 via Extended Maintenance, which is subject to a charge. After that, SAP will discontinue support completely. This means that all companies must have switched to a successor solution such as the SAP Integration Suite by 2030 at the latest.
The duration of a migration check depends heavily on the scope and complexity of your system landscape. Factors such as the number of interfaces, existing integration processes and individual requirements influence the time required.
Companies have several options when it comes to the end-of-life of SAP PI/PO:
- Migration to SAP Integration Suite - SAP's recommended successor with cloud integration, API management and event control.
- Hybrid integration scenarios - combination of on-premise and cloud integrations to modernise step by step.
- Third-party solutions - use of external middleware if there are special integration requirements.
- Temporary Extended Maintenance - Support extension until 2030 to gain time for migration.
In the long term, however, there is no way around migrating to modern integration platforms, as SAP is finally discontinuing support.
The SAP Integration Suite is the strategic successor platform to SAP PI/PO and offers numerous advantages:
- Cloud-native architecture - flexible, scalable and future-proof.
- API management - centralised management, publication and protection of interfaces.
- Event-Driven Integration - support for modern, event-based scenarios.
- Broad connectivity - preconfigured adapters for SAP and non-SAP systems, SaaS solutions and cloud services.
- Hybrid scenarios - integration of on-premise and cloud applications in one platform.
- Continuous innovation - regular updates and enhancements through the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
The SAP Integration Suite is therefore not just a replacement for PI/PO, but a strategic enabler for digital transformation.
Companies should consider several points when migrating from SAP PI/PO to SAP Integration Suite:
- Plan early - start analysing existing interfaces and integration scenarios in good time.
- Inventory - document which integrations are business-critical and need to be prioritised for migration.
- Rethink architecture - do not transfer PI/PO logic 1:1, but utilise modern approaches such as API-First and Event-Driven Integration.
- Gradual migration - use hybrid scenarios to minimise risks.
- Building expertise - preparing teams for the new SAP Integration Suite technologies.
- Testing & monitoring - ensure comprehensive testing and monitoring to guarantee smooth processes after go-live.
A structured approach reduces project risks and allows you to benefit from the advantages of the new platform more quickly.
For a successful migration from SAP PI/PO to SAP Integration Suite, companies should check and fulfil certain requirements:
- Current PI/PO version - use of a supported version (at least 7.5) facilitates migration.
- SAP BTP access - an active client account for the SAP Integration Suite is required.
- Network and security concepts - secure connections, VPNs or cloud connectors must be planned.
- System compatibility - existing SAP and non-SAP systems should support the new interfaces and protocols.
- Licence and cost model - calculate the costs and licences for the SAP Integration Suite at an early stage.
- Expertise and resources - trained employees or partners with experience in cloud integrations are crucial.
Ensuring these prerequisites in advance avoids delays and reduces risks in the migration project.
